XYZSHELL version 3.3
With my being able to get ahold of the latest version of XYZ.TTP
version 2.0 (the shareware version), I quickly set about expanding
the shell to work with the new version. The new XYZ.TTP is well
worth the small amount of donation that the author Alan Hamilton
requests and we all should contribute to this highly needed multi-
transfer protocall program.
SETUP
-----
Place the following files into the same directory:
XYZSHELL.PRG
XYZSHELL.RSC
XYZ.TTP (optional in the same directory)
You can have XYZ.TTP in a different directory than the other two
files, as the shell will ask you for the location of XYZ.TTP if it
can't locate it in the same directory.
RUNNING THE SHELL
-----------------
Any term program that allows running external commands can run
the shell. Upon running the program you will be presented with a
set of options that you can click on to choose. Certain buttons
will only allow 1 button in a group to chosen. In others you can
choose a mixture of options. Once you have made your choices you
will be presented with a file selector box that you choose either
the file to send or the path to use for BATCH upload/download
protocalls.
CHANGES
-------
I won't go into great detail all of the changes to XYZ.TTP
itself. I've included a copy of the compressed package that
includes detailed explanation. I will point out some of the
features of 3.0 over 1.0. (what happened to 2.0 is too gruesome of
a story to go into) For information on the changes to 3.1 read the
changes listed at the end of this document.
o - The XMODEM checksum mode has now been moved into the
protocalls area. Also when uploading OR downloading in XMODEM 1K
mode, ALWAYS choose the XMODEM 1K button. The shell will recognize
the correct calls to give to XYZ.TTP. This was a problem for
"some" new users to XYZ.TTP so this helps make it more uniform.
o - RETRY limit has been added to the shell. The shell will
normally default to 10 retrys per limit. XYZ.TTP can actually go
to 1000 but I set the shell to only accept a max of 999. I figure
if you're that much of a masochist that you actually want to use
1000 retrys then run XYZ.TTP from a command line. The current
amount will be shown on the shell. If you deselect the RETRYS
button it will again default to 10 retrys.
o - BAUD rate is for those modems running above 9600 if you wish
to have a read out of estimated time for the transfer. It works
similar to the RETRYS option and will default if deselcted.
o - It is NOT recommended that you use this shell with any
previous versions of XYZ.TTP as it *may* work but you lose out on
a lot of options.
LEGAL STUFF
-----------
I am not responsible for this shell affecting your system. It has
been tested and no ill effects have been found but you never know
what may happen in your situation.
XYZ.TTP is copyright of Alan Hamilton
Any shareware contributions for XYZSHELL are seperate from shareware
contributions for the TTP program. Please support SHAREWARE. Beats
the heck out of commercial prices!
NOTES
-----
As a shareware offer I only request $5 for the effort. All
shareware donations may be sent to:

I hope you enjoy the shell as much as I have in making a great
program like XYZ.TTP a joy to use.
CHANGES to 3.1
--------------
You can now SAVE a configuration. When you first run XYZSHELL it will
tell you that no configuration file exists. Once you've entered the
shell, choose your most used options and then save it. When no config
file is found, XYZSHELL will default to the following:
Download
Xmodem 1K
Pause
Verbose
The config file will only save your selected buttons. It will not
save your retrys or your baud. If you choose to use other than the
defaults on those options, you'll need to select them each time. (I'll
probably add that capability later along with the ability to save a
path)
The DO IT button is now the default. Pressing your RETURN key will
move you along without having to use your mouse to select DO IT.
XYX.TTP's capability to write an error log has been added. If you
choose LOG.TXT the shell will write a file called LOG.TXT to the
drive/path that XYZSHELL is running from. If you choose VERBOSE, then
LOG.TXT will be turned off. ie; you can have either VERBOSE or LOG.TXT
but not both.
The bug with the incorrect path name being shown on a file selector
has been fixed.
The bug with BATCH protocalls having to have a *.* placed on the file
selectors filename has been fixed.
CHANGES IN 3.2
--------------
This fixes the Zmodem download bug. Before if you wanted to do a
Zmodem download, you had to clear out the file selection. (the *.*)
Now the shell will recognize when you want to dl in Zmodem and
automaticly will strip the *.* off.
Also, moved the DO IT button to the left. It just seems to make
it easier if you use the mouse to click on it. Most times I don't
change my options but I do change the protocalls frequently.
CHANGES IN 3.3
--------------
It seems Alan pulled a fast one on me and changed how the batch
protocalls accepted filenames. This version fixes the batch download
problem where you would have to clear out the *.* in the filename
of the file selector box. I've also removed the *.* permanently from
that same box (except in the path) for a clean look.
CHANGES IN 3.4
--------------
You can now set a drive as your default drive for uploads and
downloads. Also, I enhanced the batch upload protocalls so that if
you want to upload an entire directory, you no longer have to add
the *.* to the fileselector. As far as the default drive goes, if
you do not select a default drive, the shell will default to the
current working drive.
THANKS
------
Thanks to the users that have sent in previous shareware
contributions for earlier versions. (if you've already sent in a
shareware contribution it is not necessary to send another for the
upgrade. Of course I wouldn't push it away! ....grin) Also, a big
thanks to Andy Eklund (Phoenix) of The Stormbringer BBS for his
suggestions. (Besides, he wouldn't let me rest if I didn't mention
his name)
I would've included YMG.TTP to this shell but was unable to make
the shell work the YMG.TTP file. If the author would like to
contact me with regards to clues as to how to make it work with
the Pexec routines, I'm more than willing to spend the time
coding in the routines.
